PEOPLE looking for ways to work off the Christmas pudding will be welcomed as countryside volunteers.

Worcestershire County Council wants more people to get involved with local nature sites, learning new skills such as hedge laying, path construction, habitat management and tree planting.

All tools, training and expertise are provided, but volunteers of all age groups need protective clothing, boots and enthusiasm.

"This is a great way to start the New Year and an enjoyable way to get some exercise after the Christmas excess," said countryside officer Wade Muggleton.
