SEVENTY small Christmas trees and an array of beautifully decorated windows are helping to create a festive feeling in Upton-upon-Severn town centre.

In addition to the illuminated trees outside the shops, the Rotary Club has placed a Tree of Light in the old churchyard.

County councillor Bob Bullock judged a shop window competition organised by Upton Tourism and Trade Association, awarding first prize in both the best dressed and best illuminated categories to the Flower Ring, Old Street.

Second in the best dressed category was Gifted, High Street, and third was the window of a private house in High Street, owned by Lavender Beard.

Highly commended was Hayward's Hardware, New Street.

Cromwells, Church Street, was second in the best illuminated class, followed by the RSPCA shop, Church Street.
