BROMSGROVE Rovers kept the pressure on the teams above them in Southern League Division One West and maintained their promotion push by seeing off cynical ten-man Bracknell 2-1.

Goals for Steve Frost and Kevin Banner put Rovers 2-0 up before striker Gavin Smith's late effort ensured a nervy end for the home side.

However, while Bromsgrove produced some slick football, Bracknell seemed more concerned with kicking lumps out of the home side.

Ben Edwards missed Bracknell's best chance in the 24th minute when his shot crept past the outside of the right post, but Frost lifted the gloom at the Victoria Ground on the stroke of half-time.

Riad Erraji found Frost free on the right and Bracknell's defence parted invitingly as he dribbled into the box before powering a low shot under the 'keeper.

The referee could not ignore Danny Oliphant's clumsy tackle on Mark Benbow in the 54th minute and yellow carded the midfielder.

Then everyone missed Banner's low free-kick from the right and it bounced in off the post to double Rovers' advantage.

Oliphant was then sent off for wrestling Riad Erraji to the ground, before sub Matthew Johnson's 78th minute long-range shot thudded off the bar.

Complacent Rovers' lead was sliced in two after Ian Gandy parried Edwards' shot and Smith stole in to score a header minutes later.

Lowe was dismissed from the touchline during the eight minutes of injury-time for arguing with the referee while warming up.
