A PASSENGER group representing commuters travelling between Worcester and Birmingham have given a mixed reaction to the new rail timetable.

The Stourbridge Line User Group said the revised timetable, which was introduced on Sunday, December 12, has improved service for passengers travelling between Kidderminster and Birmingham, thanks to extra peak time trains.

But a reduction in the number of connecting trains from Kidderminster to Malvern and Hereford degraded the service. A change in the stopping pattern along the line, especially at Worcester Shrub Hill and Foregate Street, also detracted from the service, said the user group.

The group was also concerned with the number of Stourbridge line trains destined for London.

"We believe the Stourbridge route should get one London train an hour," said the SLUG Liaison Officer, Don Barton.

He said the SLUG would continue to press Chiltern Railways to make improvements to the London service.
