KEMPSEY Parish Council will be relieved when it gets a new parish office - in a former toilet block behind the Community Centre.

Discussion of employing an architect to design the new office led to a rash of puns at the December meeting.

To Kim Rowswell's suggestion that the office was going down the pan, clerk Andrea Halford retorted, "We know our place," adding that there would be thrones for the chairmen.

Someone else suggested they would be flushed with pride and chairman Joy Clee, attempting to call the meeting to order, said: "It is something we could put into motion."

This was greeted with more laughter.

"We are getting bogged down now," said John Michael.
