I AM writing further to Peter Luff's comment in the Journal that the government's hunting bill is part to a class war.

While this debate will no doubt continue to run, one thing that is clear is that the government has now delivered on one of its 1997 election manifesto pledges.

It is also worth pointing out that Labour has gone to the country twice - and won - with this issue as part of its plans.

Part of living in a civilised society involves treating animals with responsibility and respect.

This legislation will ensure that fox hunting - like bear-baiting, bull-baiting, badger-baiting, cock-fighting and dog-fighting - becomes a thing of the past.
