A PERSHORE nursery is bidding to overturn a decision by planners not to allow them to put up a building for growing crops.
Wayside Nurseries is warning that the refusal could put jobs at risk and is lodging an appeal.
The company, in New Road, Elmley Castle, claim in their grounds for appeal that workers have already had to be laid off because of the failure of Wychavon Council planners to understand the business.
"While control of new building is a matter for the local authority, so is the continued viability of existing businesses and employment in rural areas," states the appeal submission.
Planners refused the application on the grounds that no information had been provided to demonstrate the building was necessary.
They contend that no basis was established to justify setting aside normal strict controls on buildings in open countryside.
