THE president of the Pershore Gentleman's Club John Cook died suddenly on the premises where he had been a member for 40 years.
Mr Cook, of Whitcroft Road, Pershore, who had lived in the town since moving with his family when he was aged 11, was 76 when he died on December 6.
He attended the then Pershore Senior School and became a joiner with Pettifer of Pershore on leaving school. He later became contracts manager with Espley Tyas, of Evesham, and ended his working life as a building consultant.
Outside his family and work Mr Cook took a keen interest in various activities in Pershore. As well as his long interest in the Gentleman's Club, he was a governor at the Abbey Road school and Pershore High School and a member of the Parochial Church Council at Pershore Abbey.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, two sons, Alan and Andy, and four grandchildren.
The funeral service was due to take place at Pershore Abbey at 2pm today.
