Evesham U-13 Yth 5, Yardley & District 22pts
YARDLEY were short of Under-13 players and had arrived with a team of mainly older youngsters.
The hosts, captained by James Ingleby, started the game with a full squad of match age players who were overwhelmed by the opposition's bigger Under-14 squad.
Yardley scored an unconverted try in the opening ten minutes when Evesham were on the back foot and only superb perform-ances from Mike Diston, Tom Singleton and Ben Farrah helped keep the visitors at bay.
Evesham showed great courage and determination and began to fight back only for them to be overpowered and Yardley scored two more tries on the first half to lead 17-0 at half-time.
The hosts borrowed some of their own older players to try to make the teams more even and Spencer and Frazer Goggin, Alex Rice and Rob Wilkes seemed to do the trick.
After an excellent drive upfield, Evesham were rewarded with an unconverted try from Rob Wilkes. Yardley, though, responded with another try to wrap up the win.
