MIDLANDS rugby clubs and schools are being asked to answer an SOS appeal for unwanted kit to help some of the world's emerging rugby countries.
The SOS IRB Kit Aid project is authorised by the International Rugby Board to collect and distribute unwanted and outgrown kit to junior players across the world.
The SOS IRB Kit Aid project has already helped players in seven countries - Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, the Ukraine and Poland - and three more are likely to be added in 2005.
Since 2001, the project has supplied more than 10,000 quality, used rugby shirts, 8,000 pairs of shorts and 3,000 boots allowing youngsters to play in kit that their parents couldn't afford to buy.
The project has a network of 50 area kit collectors and so far hundreds of schools, clubs, referee societies and kit manufacturers have generously donated to the SOS IRB Kit Aid scheme.
Further kit donations are welcome and further information can be obtained from John Broadfoot on 0208 776 2085 or at www.sosirbkitaid.org
