Local History Society: Hoo Mill - A Brief History was the subject of a talk presented by Terry Carter to a packed Greig Centre.

The society's committee member explained how the local landmark has a wealth of history, being recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. The place name Hoo is of Anglo-Saxon origin meaning hill or promontory.

Hoo Mill was one of seven mills on the River Alne between Alcester and Henley-in-Arden.

Ownership of the Mill through the ages is well documented, with early associations with the Throckmorton family of Coughton Court.

The next talk, Hook Norton Brewery will be presented by Howard Hicks at 8pm on Wednesday, January 12 at the Greig Centre.

Members and non-members are welcome.
