KITE'S Nest Farm at Broadway has long been the showpiece of organic farming - Prince Charles visited there to pick up tips before converting his Highgrove House to natural ways of farming.

Rosamund Young, who runs the farm in Snowshill Road with her brother, Richard, won acclaim for her book The Secret Life of Cows which gave readers an insight into day-to-day activities on the farm.

Now she has produced a Video/DVD The Secret Life of the Farm. Shot over a five-year period, the programme reveals secret glimpses into the ordinary, everyday life of cattle, sheep, hens and wildlife on the Cotswold slopes.

Viewers can see sheep making use of nature's larder for feeding and medicinal purposes, calves playing tag and hens soaking up the sunshine.

The Secret Life of the Farm is a visual accompaniment to Rosamund's book. "It shows impromptu and random insights into how farm animals behave," she explained. "It clearly shows them making choices and expressing preferences, forming life-long friendships and family bonding."

All this is seen against the backdrop of Kite's Nest farm, a farm where Rosamund and Richard actively encourage meadow and wild flowers, wild birds and badgers to thrive on the land and live side by side with farm animals.

Published by Farming Books and Videos Ltd, with a running time of about an hour, the Video/DVD costs £14.99.
