I AM writing to relate my recent experience of a visit to your town, and to explain why I would be reluctant to return.
We had heard that Kidderminster had benefited from recent developments, and decided to come over to do some shopping and see for ourselves.
The town centre had improved hugely since our last visit, and we had an enjoyable afternoon shopping. We then decided to go for a bite to eat to round the day off.
It was then the problems began.
After finishing the meal, we decided to get a taxi back home. We walked to the rank and found a queue of at least 10 people in front of us, and 30 minutes later the queue had not reduced, as not one taxi had arrived.
Talking to local people in the queue and getting increasingly frustrated, it became apparent that this was quite a common experience.
After calling the taxi companies and being promised a cab would soon be with us, we carried on waiting, to no avail. Eventually we gave up and decided to walk to the railway station and take a train.
We were now tired and cold. We walked out of the train station at Worcester to be greeted by a long line of taxis waiting for our business.
In conclusion, while the taxi situation in your town remains the same, we wouldn't consider returning to spend a day shopping again.
I dread to think what it would be like looking for a cab home after a night out.
