I HAVE read the reported comments of Councillor Stephen Clee relating to the proposed siting of a skateboard park in Shaw Hedge Road, Bewdley.
Only a person completely out of touch with the needs of the wider community in the vicinity of the park would support a skateboard park at the highest geographical point of Wribbenhall.
The natural way for people with skateboards to leave the site is downhill. They will be able to do so in almost every direction, using the roads and footpaths of the Queensway estate, in particular Shaw Hedge Road, and the public footpath leading to Grey Green Lane and Bewdley town centre.
The noise impact of the skateboards on householders will be very considerable. Policing will be virtually impossible, given the demands already being made by drinkers and vandals near the community centre.
I am informed that all interested parties were satisfied with the site near the leisure centre in Stourport Road until the question of maintenance costs was raised.
It will, in the long run, cost far less to put the site there than where it is currently proposed.
