RANGERS began the defence of the League Cup in emphatic manner with a goal feast against their Cotswolds opponents.

Shaun Read opened the floodgates after seven minutes and a carbon-copy made it 2-0 just a couple of minutes later.

Jamie Clarke scored a third after 11 minutes and it took just another six minutes for Read to complete a quickfire hat-trick.

Clarke was again the provider as Read made it 5-0 at the break after which there was a first goal of the season for Jon Stickler who volleyed in a cross from George Lavis.

Read banged in his fifth from Ethan Cronin's pass and Clarke's superb lob then made it 8-0.

The same player posted his treble before Owen Powell took the Badsey total into double figures.

The rout didn't end there as Rangers scored three more courtesy of player of the match Smith, Clarke and Mark Magee.

Worcester City 0,

Evesham Utd U-14 6

UNITED travelled to their local Midland Junior Premier League rivals on Saturday and put in an excellent all-round performance to move up to second in the table.

The Robins soaked up early pressure before starting to assert themselves in a more attacking way with David Huggins twice hitting the crossbar.

The striker enjoyed better fortune when he gave his side the lead just before half time from Jon Wein threaded pass.

In the second half Evesham took control in terms of possession and goals. Lewis Dallard rocked the City defence with a solo run and shot that he squeezed in from an impossible angle.

Huggins then added his second running on to a through ball and placing his shot past the oncoming keeper.

Dean Elsmore capped a fine individual performance with a shot from just inside the box after being fed in by Scott Andrews.

Andrews then played through Tom Miles who netted under pressure before Liam Phillips scored his first ever goal for Evesham.

Leckhampton Rvrs 0,

Badsey Rgrs U-10 2

A MUCH improved Leckhampton gave Badsey plenty of problems during a goalless first half.

They looked dangerous coming forward and defended well with Jack Millward twice coming close to scoring but interval stalemate ensued.

The second half was going the same way until Alex Trotman finally netted for Badsey with five minutes remaining.

Leckhampton then went looking for the equaliser and were only denied by a wonderful finger-tip save from Louis Sutton.

Rangers made the game safe in the final minute when James Schembri beat two men on the left before firing home.

Badsey Rgrs U-9 1,

Inkberrow Eagles 4

RANGERS started out the stronger of the two sides and made an excellent start when player of the match Scott Southern slotted the ball past the keeper after five minutes.

With both sides playing great football both defences made excellent challenges to prevent any further goals.

Inkberrow were gifted an equaliser and they then took the lead before the interval.

It was end to end stuff after the break with chances at both ends but it was the Eagles who grabbed the crucial next goal to make it 3-1.

The visitors were grateful to their goalkeeper as Badsey sought to hit back but another well-worked goal clinched the win.

Newtown Spts Jnrs 0,

Littleton Jnrs U-14 2

LITTLETON booked a place in the semi-finals of the League Cup with a terrific all- round team display.

Their brand of fast attacking football saw Newtown having to defend for long periods and Littleton should have taken an early lead but Dan Keen sent his header wide.

Matt Goss tested the visiting goalkeeper on a number of occasion and the Sports' custodian did well to keep out Matt Smith's fierce volley.

The second half was a more even contest but it was Littleton who took the lead when Will Begg and Ryan Clarke sent Goss away and his perfect cross was headed in at the near post by Steve Edghill.

This brought a flurry of attacks from Newtown but Littleton's defence of Begg, Olly Payne and Matt Taylor kept them at bay.

Littleton returned to the attack and the impressive Goss again provided the pass for Lance Smith to dart between two defenders and fire the ball past the keeper.

Southside Cubs 4,

Evesham Utd U-12 4

DEAN Lee snatched an injury-time equaliser after United had trailed three times in a topsy-turvy contest.

Olly Davies made it 1-1 after Southside's early opener and Karl Myers then gave Evesham the lead.

Cubs took advantage of sloppy defending to score two more goals and lead at half-time only for Davies to fire in his second.

The hosts again seized the initiative but Lee rescued a draw following Ciaran Gilbert's corner.

Drakes Broughton U-15 2,

Malvern 2 (aet)

Drakes won on penalties

DAVID Clifton saved the last shoot-out kick of a pulsating tie to send his side through to the next round of the cup.

The first half saw both sides create few chances which resulted in a midfield stalemate.

However, Malvern started the second half the stronger and deservedly took the lead with 15 minutes to go.

Clifton then made two great saves to keep Drakes in the match before Sam Hicks levelled and then saw another shot rebound off the bar in the final minute.

The game entered extra-time with James Alexander giving Drakes the lead only for the visitors to make it 2-2 with virtually the last kick of the game when the ball appeared to be kicked out of goalkeeper Clifton's hands.

Peopleton U-7 2, Badsey Rgrs 3

TWO evenly balanced teams were separated by a single goal at the end of a five-goal thriller.

An own goal gave Badsey the lead and they needed two more strikes courtesy of Ben Proctor and Jordan Lymn to finally see off the home side's challenge.
