UNISON Wyre Forest bowls section celebrated its 40th birthday and annual awards presentation earlier this month.

Among those present was Bill Webb, one of the founder members who, at 87, still plays the odd game at White Wickets in the summer, and indoors at The Briars in winter.

To mark the occasion he was presented with a cut glass whisky glass and a drop of his favourite tipple to go in it.

Awards were presented to:

Indoor doubles: winners Iris Burton and Jean Davies, runners-up Bob Brown and Robert Lane.

Indoor singles: winner Goff Perks, runner-up Paul Binns.

Outdoor singles: winner Don Davies, runner-up Bernard Richardson.

Outdoor doubles: winners Davis and Brown, runners-up Derek Pycock and Pat Millichap.

Rose Bowl triples: winners Richardson, Ron Bentley and Gill Welch; runners-up Doug Pitt, David Link and Jennie Gibb.

Dumont Trophy singles: winner Davies, runner-up Pycock.

The presentations were made by club president Jean Davies, assisted by captain Gibb and treasurer Burton.
