SICK, disabled and disadvantaged youngsters were given some early festive cheer when they travelled on a unique Santa Special steam train.
Around 200 youngsters yesterday journeyed on the famous Severn Valley Railway - a trip organised by The Variety Club of Great Britain's Midland's branch.
During the journey, from Kidderminster to Highley, in Shropshire, and back, each child also received a gift from Father Christmas.
"Trains like this really personify the season of goodwill as most people would like it to be," said Alun Rees, general manager of Several Valley Railway.
"For us there's a certain satisfaction in being able to do something which helps make a difference to those less fortunate than us.
"We're glad to be playing a part."
