A REGIONAL ICT association has made a New Year's resolution to pass the 50-members mark.

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire branch of the West Midlands IT Association (WMita) had only nine members in the summer.

But it has nearly quadrupled its size in the last six months with a rapid rise to 44 thanks to a rise in its profile.

"WMita was set up to develop a credible and thriving IT industry by providing business opportunities and improving business practices for small and medium-sized companies as well as providing a voice for ICT firms on industry issues," said chairman Ian Pugh.

"We have enjoyed a positive year in Worcestershire and Herefordshire by holding a series of informative meetings and helping our members win new contracts.

"To have substantially grown from nine to 44 members in a relatively short space of time is a remarkable feat and if we can continue to persuade other companies to come on board then we will be in a really strong position."

A new members meeting is being held between 5.45pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 25 at the Fownes Hotel, City Walls Road, Worcester, to give people the chance to find out more about WMita.
