FEARS that health services in Bidford could not cope with the extra workload are among the objections to plans for a new housing development in the village.

The plans, to build on Friday Furlong, are due to be discussed by Stratford District Council's west area planning committee tomorrow.

Two developers, George Wimpey (West Midlands) and Cranbrook Homes, have submitted outline planning applications for the site covering an area of nearly seven hectares. Both schemes include 120 houses and a nursing home and one features a business development which has been opposed by Bidford Parish Council.

They say there is already enough business development in the village which is not used and fear unused space is likely to be unkempt and vandalised creating a bad impression of the area.

Bidford Health Centre lodged its objections a year ago when staff were already "running at capacity" and said the building could not house any additional doctors nor cope with the extra workload.

Four other councils have contacted Stratford District Council which has also received objections from two residents.

Planning officers are recommending the application which includes business development be approved.

The meeting will be held at Studley Village Hall at 6pm.
