A WOMAN who has lived almost her entire life in Inkberrow celebrated her 100th birthday on December 6, surrounded by family and friends.

Edith Hunt worked in the needle factory in Astwood Bank from the age of 13.

She married William Hill, brother of the founder member of Brooklyn Ford Garages, in December 1925 and worked with her husband on their poultry farm in Inkberrow.

After 25 years of marriage, Mr Hill died suddenly and in October 1955, Edith married Gilbert Hunt and worked with him in their fishing float factory in Inkberrow. Mr Hunt died earlier this year.

Edith has one son, who is married with five daughters, and 10 great-grandchildren.

One great-granddaughter died when she was just two.

She also has a stepdaughter, who is married with two children, from her marriage to Mr Hunt.

Edith has lived in Inkberrow for 90 years after moving there when her parents gave up running the Red Lion pub in Stock Wood, which they had managed for 13 years.
