I WAS intrigued by the letter about the beaurocracy of filling in forms to re-apply for various benefits when you marry (Advertiser, December 8).
Unfortunately, not everyone in this country is honest and the process is necessary to prevent fraud.
What is important though is the amount of various benefits we now receive.
There is a move by all political parties to simplify the system.
At present, I think a slow approach is needed to get it right.
When we have ID cards fully integrated into our system, we will be able to link computer technology to them and the benefit system and then fastrack multi-benefit claims onto one easy statement that the claimant will merely have to sign.
Fraud will be minimised and organised crime will be drastically reduced.
