I HAVE spent a long time thinking about a list of things that we should do in 2005 which would make everyone a lot happier.

I wrote the list in my very best ink pen and I hope your readers will take time to read it and lend their support.

l Free buses for everyone, everywhere at any time. This will involve higher taxes but the country can afford it.

l A bridge over Studley village centre. This will avoid the need for an expensive bypass and will give users a wonderful view over the village. It would involve, unfortunately, higher taxes.

l Six more hospitals. This will enable anyone in Redditch to have an operation whether they need it or not. I have long thought it unfair that operations should only be available to the sick. We should all have the chance to benefit.

l Free signed photographs of Robin King. As one of our town's great thinkers and leading intellectuals, it would be a fitting tribute to have Robin's face staring down from toilet walls throughout the borough.

l A tunnel under Studley village centre. This would avoid the need for an expensive bridge and be fairer on those of us who don't like heights. Taxes would have to rise.

l A corner shop on every corner.

l Lower taxes

l A linking of wages and pensions to the price of fish.

There are those who "can" and those who "do'' in our society. I feel I can count myself as a "doer".
