A WESTLANDS man has hit out at the amount of rubbish being left behind by bin men on their rounds of the estate.
Keith Hobson claims the amount of litter strewn after the refuse collectors make their calls on a Monday or Tuesday is getting worse.
"It's absolutely diabolical," he fumed. "They only take the bags and leave any other rubbish behind," said Mr Hobson, an active member of the Westlands Community Association.
"And they come before 7.30am, which means most people have to put their bags out overnight, and then the cats get to them."
He said the estate already has a major problem with cats and the amount of litter on the estate was exacerbating it.
Sharon Caswell, a spokeswoman for Wychavon District Council, said she would look into the matter. She said they would have probably already sent out a letter, advising householders not to put out their rubbish before 7am on the morning of collection.
"If there is mess on council-owned land, as in public land, then it is our responsibility to clear it up. Otherwise it is whoever owns the land, which could be private or housing association," she said.
She later added: "As long as waste is contained and less than 25kg in weight then our crews should collect it.
"They will also collect one bag of garden waste. However, they will not collect trade waste, larger items, liquids or paints."
