A MAN tried to force a 17-year-old girl into his car in Bromsgrove.

Now the police are appealing for any information to track the man down.

The girl was walking along the Birmingham Road, just near the Kwik Save supermarket, when she was approached by a man in a car.

He offered her a lift then tried to force her into the back of his car but she managed to escape and the man drove off towards Bromsgrove town centre. The incident happened shortly after midnight on Thursday, December 9.

The offender is described as white, in his early to mid-20s, 5ft 7 to 5ft 10inches tall with a slim build.

He had short dark spiky hair, which may have been gelled and was wearing a dark long-sleeved top and dark trousers and spoke with a local accent.

DC Glyn Jones, of Bromsgrove CID, said: "Fortunately the victim was not injured as a result of this incident but understandably she was very shaken. We want people to be aware that this has happened and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to give us a call."

DC Jones added: "We also need help identifying the car. The victim described it as a medium-sized dark-coloured car with silver alloy wheels and a distinctive spoiler on the back. It was a large spoiler, not thought to be factory-fitted, in the same colour as the car itself and was attached with chrome fittings.

"If anyone thinks they may recognise this car or has any information to help our inquiries, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call Bromsgrove police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
