ON November 18, newly-elected president Jenny Kerridge and several new officers took charge of our affairs.

Retiring committee member, Anne Powell, was presented with a hand-made card with our thanks in recognition of 14 years in charge of our refreshments.

We had a report of the recent half yearly council meeting and many forthcoming events were detailed for members' participation, including two outings: a shopping trip to Bath and a visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Sonia Williams gave us an enjoyable talk entitled Tin Roof Trenching. She transported us to Zambia where she and her husband were teaching in the 60's. Sonia gave a vivid picture of the heat, brilliance and beauty of the land and the rewarding life of working in a newly-established secondary school. She was thanked by June Green.
