THE meeting was well attended and prayers were said to start the evening's programme.

Tickets were sold for the raffle organised by Upton Warren Women's Fellowship, the prize for which was the magnificent quilt handmade by Jenny Deighton.

Members were invited to join Wychbold WI members in a two-hour knit-athon in aid of the Children's Society in St Mary de Wyche Church on November 10.

For our entertainment we were transported to Egypt by Concha Houghton. Earlier this year Concha and her family embarked on this holiday and the starting point of their journey among the splendours of the Nile was Luxor.

Concha conveyed to us so well the 4,000-year-old civilisation and of the almost Biblical-looking scenes in villages amid camels and palm trees.

The holiday ended with a stay at a resort on the Red Sea, where they swam and marvelled at the wonders of the coral reef.

She showed us the displays of photographs they had taken which were splendid and certainly enhanced the feeling that we had been there with them. Pat Kay thanked Concha for such a splendid talk. Refreshments, the raffle and our closing prayer, finished the meeting.
