THE Christmas lights display in Rubery this year is appalling, although it must be pointed out that it is not the actual lights that are the problem, it is the height they have been placed at.
They are so high that when you are walking through the village, or going through on the bus, you simply can't see them - especially as it's often so foggy at this time of year.
This was something I noticed whilst on the bus to Birmingham the other evening and the situation was even more noticeable when I went through Northfield. There they have the same, or it might be even less, number of lights - but because they are placed in the middle of the lamp posts, it looks so much brighter.
Fair play to Bromsgrove District Council for putting Christmas lights in Rubery but I, and I'm sure the village's residents will agree with me, think they should be visible to the human eye.
At this time of year I don't mind seeing Santa on his sleigh up in the clouds above Rubery and I wouldn't even mind seeing the odd UFO there (not that I have seen one yet), but Christmas lights? Come on Bromsgrove District Council, they're lights you've put up in Rubery, not stars!
