Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves 3 Rugby United 1
SHAUN Maynard maintained his excellent scoring form as Rovers cemented their place at the top of the Midland Combination Reserves Division.
Rovers had to come from a goal down after their Warwickshire opponents scored from a free-kick.
Bromsgrove responded with gusto and Leon Lowe powered home the equaliser in the 23rd minute.
Maynard then put his side ahead when he chested down a lofted ball forward and blasted past the goalkeeper.
The forward completed the scoring in seven minutes before half time when he slotted home from an acute angle.
In the second half midfielder Michael McGrath controlled midfield and Maynard missed several chances to extend Rovers' lead.
The striker missed the best chance of the half when he beat the defence to the ball, but his deft flick sent the ball just wide of the post.
The Reserves will be aiming to stretch their lead at the top of the table on Saturday when they go to Hinckley Reserves (2pm kick off).
