Trinity Guild 41

Alcester 0

ALCESTER suffered more away day misery, losing comprehensively to a side they had beaten at King's Coughton only three weeks ago.

A pumped up home side were determined to exact revenge on their visitors, and Alcester found their powerful direct running too hot to handle as the home side ran in a total of six tries, three in each half, which were improved by one penalty and four conversions.

Alcester competed well up front but were hampered by injuries to several members of their pack, some of whom had to carry on as the visitors had used their allocation of substitutes.

Out wide the home side had the definite edge as their bigger, more powerful backs revelled in space they were allowed.

Alcester rarely threatened the home line and were left to consider the relegation battle they now find themselves in, as the league enters its second half.

Alcester face a quick return to Guild and a third meeting between the sides in five weeks, as next Sunday the play the Warwickshire Shield tie between the two sides.

Whilst the senior game was one sided, the battle of the club's second XV's produced a tight game which culminated in a draw at King's Coughton.

Alcester led 12-0 at the break thanks to tries from Gary Jilks and Paul Taylor, with Taylor also adding one conversion.

Guild fought back in the second half, but they left it late to score their points, through two tries of their own, with the equalising conversion being kicked just before the final whistle.
