A MUCH-changed Malvern Town side conceded four second-half goals to lose 4-1 at home to Castle Vale in the Worcestershire Senior Urn second round last night.

The game was even for the first 30 minutes until Malvern went ahead when Duncan Preedy slipped the ball to Des Cox and he turned quickly, losing his marker, to shoot past the stranded 'keeper.

Malvern stopper Jamie Lambert came to his side's rescue either side of the break, saving twice from Aaron Smith.

The hosts had a chance to double their lead when Cannon fired over from four yards after Preedy had dummied the ball. James also had a shot well saved minutes later.

As the game progressed, Vale's diminutive Smith held off three challenges before rounding Lambert for the equaliser and best goal of the night.

Town also missed another chance to score, an effort headed over the bar from a yard out.

Vale though stepped up a gear, Craig Evans putting the visitors 2-1 ahead.

Livewire Smith increased Vale's advantage by skipping round Lambert for a fine individual goal.

To add to Town's misery, Chris Jones clattered Smith when the latter was through on goal and he was shown a second yellow card.

Sam Hawker took the free- kick which went straight through Town's defensive wall and into the net.

n A dismal second-half display saw Westfields fall at the first hurdle in the Travel Factory Alliance League Cup, losing 3-0 at holders Stratford Town.
