THREE apprentices at Worcestershire construction group Weaver PLC have won awards for outstanding craft skills.
The awards, from the Worcestershire Construction Training Group, recognise achievements made by second year students of NVQs, HNC and AVCE qualifications.
Joe Hill, aged 20, an apprentice bricklayer from Redditch, won the top prize in the bricklaying category.
Richard Clarke, 17, apprentice carpenter from Stourport, was runner-up in the carpentry category and Ashley Dunn, 20, a trainee planner from Stourbridge, was runner-up in the technician category.
Recognised
All are studying part-time at Stourbridge College ATC.
"Receiving such an award is a great confidence booster for these young people who not only work very hard for Weaver, but also on their college studies," said Jeremy Lydiatt, group planning manager at Weaver PLC, which is based in Bromsgrove.
"It is great for them to be recognised by a professional training body in what is a very competitive award scheme."
