BUSINESSMEN from Worcester had the chance to discuss the burdens of bureaucracy with the shadow secretary of state for deregulation, John Redwood, on Friday.

Mr Redwood, accompanied by Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate Margaret Harper, stopped off at the Four Seasons restaurant in Lowesmoor to meet business representatives and listen to their concerns about regulation and to discuss Conservative plans to cut red tape.

Mrs Harper said she was delighted Mr Redwood had visited the city.

"Businesses in Worcester play a significant role in the local economy and politicians must support and encourage them to thrive and continue to contribute to the city," she said.

"The next Conservative government will do just that by reducing the excessive burden of regulation on business imposed by Tony Blair's Labour government."
