PROMISING rider Falon Harper continues to impress after recording a good finish at a prestigious showjumping event.

The 14-year-old, from Astley near Stourport, has been tipped for great things in the racing world after belying her young years to win on the adult circuit just months after taking up the sport seriously.

In one weekend last month Harper qualified on four-year-old Andora-M for both the British Novice Championships, to be held next year, and last week's four-day National Amateur Championships at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire.

At the latter, the Chantry High School pupil qualified from a field of 60 on the Friday to reach the Grand Prix two days later. She then rode a clear first round to become one of 15 to progress to the second round where, following eight faults, she ultimately finished 13th.

Such is Harper's promise that world-renowned trainer Ted Edgar was singing her praises at the event and even agreed to be pictured with her, something he rarely does.

Harper's trainer, Raymond Percy, said: "He (Ted Edgar) was very very impressed with Falon so that's a compliment in itself. I am so over the moon at what she has done. She's done more than I expected."
