MONEY keeps coming in for the Evening News' Tiny Tots Appeal to raise cash to buy vital equipment for premature babies at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The Evening News launched the appeal on Wednesday, December 1, and in less than two weeks it has managed to raise almost £1,700 after 47 people have pledged their cash to the cause.

The Royal's neo-natal unit needs to raise thousands of pounds to fund the purchase of specialist machinery that will ensure more special babies are saved this Christmas.

On Friday, the Evening News reported how DJ Fran Sheridan inspired a nightclub to raise £1,000 for the appeal as a way of thanking a special babies unit that helped save his life.

When Fran, resident DJ at Worcester's Bushwhackers, was born he was seriously ill due to a rare blood disorder and was saved thanks to the special babies unit at the old Ronkswood Hospital.

As a way of saying 'thank you' he asked Bushwhackers customers to make donations to the Tiny Tots Appeal - and hopes to raise thousands more by the end of the festive season.

You could help too. There are many ways to raise cash and have fun at the same time, such as:

n Hold your works Christmas party in aid of the appeal.

n Donate cash to the appeal instead of handing out Christmas cards.

n Hold a New Year's fancy dress party and ask people to make a donation.

n Get in trim to squeeze into your Christmas party outfit by doing a sponsored walk, run, cycle or swim.

n Go wild and do a sponsored parachute jump.

n Bake some mince pies and sell them in aid of the appeal.

n Hold a coffee morning.

Fran urged every club, pub, business and resident in Worcestershire to follow suit and help ensure that more special babies' lives are saved this Christmas.

"It would be great if the whole community could get behind this and show their support for such a good cause," he said.
