ANTIQUES expert Henry Sandon joined pupils celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Worcester school after helping organise commemorative mugs for the occasion.

Staff and youngsters at Oldbury Park Primary School were each given a mug with the school's oak tree emblem on it yesterday as part of its china anniversary year.

The idea came from PTA member Julie Lawrence, who contacted Mr Sandon - best known for his work on the Antiques Roadshow - on the idea of making the mugs.

"Henry Sandon wrote a lovely letter back to the school and put us on to a Malvern firm that offered us three designs to choose from," said delighted headteacher, Jackie Ludlow. "We handed them out yesterday and Mr Sandon came round to talk to the children. They then sang his favourite hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful."

The Oldbury Road school was founded in September 1984, when Henwick Grove Infants and Junior schools and Comer Gardens CE School amalgamated.
