A GIANT beanstalk and a pantomime cow will be the stars of the show at a Droitwich pantomime.

The Norbury Theatre's amateur dramatics team is busy rehearsing for its production of Jack and the Beanstalk, which goes on stage next month.

The show stars almost 25 members of Droitwich's public, who will be donning outrageous costumes and performing one-liners in an attempt to set the town alight with laughter.

"It's a wonderful show and we have worked really hard," said Gail Metcalfe, who is directing the show along with Vivian Bull.

"We just want lots of people to come along and support us and have a really good time."

Evening News sports reporter Steve Carley will be among the chorus.

"This is my third panto now," he said.

"It's really good fun and you get a real buzz from it.

"We have all been rehearsing three times a week so I hope people will make the effort to come along and see it."

The production goes on stage on January 6 at 7.30pm.

It will then show until January 8, then from January 12 - 15, and from January 19 - 22. Saturday matinees start at 2.30pm

Tickets for the show are £7 or £6.50 for concessions.
