A FREE charity chamber music concert is being held at Farncombe Estate, near Broadway, on Saturday.

Musicians Frances Mason (violin), James Halsey (cello) and Michael Freyhan (piano) will be performing piano trios by Mendelssohn, Beethoven and John Ireland along with duets for violin and cello.

They are in Broadway to tutor a String Chamber Music weekend at Farncombe Estate. Frances Mason has led the Music Group of London and now leads the Rasumovsky Quartet, the Dartington Piano Trio and the Tagore Trio. Halsey was cellist for the Auriol String Quartet for ten years and now plays with the Bingham String Quartet and Freyha, a professional violin and viola player, has led the national youth orchestra and been a repetiteur at Glyndebourne.

There will be a collection at the end of the concert in aid of the Mathieson Music School in Calcutta, a centre which gives deprived children in India an education through music.
