PERSHORE Men's Firsts hockey team ended their brief losing streak with a 3-1 win at Newtown.

With two defeats from their last two games, Pershore started on the back foot. However, they took the lead with a move down the right involving Russell Scudamore, James Rayner and Mat Hughes who found the clinical Toby Whiting in the circle and he flicked it past the 'keeper.

Pershore's second was a team effort. Vincent Crowley and Whiting combined for Hughes, he reached the back line and sent in a fierce cross which Rayner deflected home. The visitors added a third before the break, Peter Boyce pouncing on a rebound.

Newtown dominated the second-half with wave after wave of attack. However, despite conceding early in the half, Pershore's defence was not breached again.

Pershore entertain league leaders Stafford on Saturday.

n The Seconds lost 4-2 at home to Barlaston. Sloppy Pershore play saw them 2-1 behind at half-time with Dave Ingram on target for the hosts.

Pershore improved in the second-half, Mark Passmore scoring after Barlaston had got a third. The visitors later added a fourth. Pershore travel to West Brom on Saturday.
