REGARDING education (double) standards, I am responding to the Labour candidate for Wyre Forest's call "to let their political representatives know exactly how they feel".

I was surprised to read in his letter to the Shuttle/Times and News of November 4, that he believes "a fundamental educational change should, at the very least, command the support of a simple majority of local people".

The Labour group on Worcestershire County Council did not seem to hold that opinion on July 5 when their cabinet member voted in favour of the proposed two-tier system. What has occurred since then to bring about such a u-turn in their position?

Perhaps he could also explain to the people of Wyre Forest (and the rest of England and Wales for that matter) why his position on fundamental education changes did not apply when the government he supports voted to impose university tuition fees in breach of clear manifesto commitment on which the Government was elected.
