LADIES GUILD: A dreary November day was brightened for members of Pershore Ladies' Guild when Paul McGuire entertained with a talk about his life as a Butlin's Redcoat. Mrs Forester gave the vote of thanks and said his talk had been lots of fun.

The chairman welcomed four visitors to the meeting. She read out a letter from Mrs D Wilkinson thanking members for their support while she was out of action.

Mrs Lockhart thanked Mrs Meller, who had embroidered the Guild's name for the wreath for the Remembrance Service.

Members were reminded that payment was due for the Christmas lunch on December 9 and that names were being taken for the outing to Slimbridge on the evening of January 26.

A letter had been received from the Cotswold Line Promotion Group announcing that the First Great Western train service to and from Pershore Station would soon be improved. An Open Forum on this is to be held on November 23 in Pershore Town Hall at 7pm.

Any members completing a Christmas Box for Operation Christmas Child between now and the end of November should phone a committee member for information.

Mrs Loach reported that the literary appreciation group had discussed the book Blackberry Wine by Joanne Harris at their recent meeting.

The sales table raised £37.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 7 in Wulstan Hall at 2pm when Frank Townsend will give a talk entitled Compliments of the Season. There will be a raffle.

New members and visitors are welcome.

INNER WHEEL: A recent coffee morning was held at the home of Elizabeth Crowther not only to boost the funds, but to give members an opportunity of looking back at the club's activities featured in the many scrap books and to remember friends past and present. Also in September a few members took the opportunity of taking members of the Pershore Centre Club for a visit to Twyford Garden Centre, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. At this month's club meeting, members were given a demonstration on Christmas Flower Arranging by fellow member Jill Millard, and many found ideas for arrangements they could make themselves at home for Christmas.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION WOMENS SECTION: The meeting was opened by chairman Wendy Griffiths after the exaltation she welcomed members. The reports of the previous meeting was read. The table top sale was run by Ray Green and what was made was added to money raised at the recent bridge drive so £225 was sent to the poppy fund.

The speaker for the evening was Chris Parsons MBE, Town Mayor, sub officer Pershore Fire Station and longest serving fire fighter in the country. Chris gave an interesting talk of his work as a fire fighter. He also gave some helpful advise on fire prevention in the home.

The next meeting is on December 7 at St Wulstans Hall old and new members are welcome.
