EX-SERVICEMEN in Bromsgrove would not in future be awarded housing "points" towards obtaining a council house, the district council decided. The move had upset the British Legion which said it was a "diabolical" decision.

TENANTS living on the new council estate at Charford in Bromsgrove were warned that if they persisted in parking in their gardens or verges fronting their homes, they would be kicked out. The district council was to write to all tenants pointing out its strict policy.

BROMSGROVE magistrates decided this year not to grant a blanket one hour extension to all licensed premises in the district over the festive season. Chairman of the bench, Mr J R Hugh Sumner, said he didn't like "closed shops" and thought it better if individuals had liberty to make individual applications.
