Officials of Bromsgrove Farmers Club were looking forward to their annual open Agricultural and Horse Show, held at Kingsland Hill Farm, Wychbold. This was due to 'a marvellous sponsorship' for a very full and attractive programme. Highlights included hot air balloon rides, a goat section, a grand parade of cattle and clay pigeon shooting.

Bromsgrove and district anglers were warned by police to keep their eyes open for riverbank thieves after two incidents near the town when two fishermen lost their fishing tackle to towpath thieves. Chief Inspector Howard Radford particularly warned anglers fishing from canal banks at Tardebigge, Stoke Prior, Stoke Pound and Wychbold to take more care of their fishing equipment.

The county's cereal farmers anxiously awaited signs of another dry period after many of their crops were left storm-damaged after a period of torrential rain. Throughout the county, farmers were working late into the night to try and harvest and salvage as much of the corn as possible.
