MEMBERS of the Rous Lench and Inkberrow branch stood for the Act of Remembrance at the AGM, held at St Peter's Hall, Inkberrow, on November 2.

Chairman Mr P Laight spoke of Bob Smith, a lifelong member and regular at all the meetings, who had died recently.

Reports were given for the president, Mr W Gregg, by the chairman, who then gave his own report recording the deaths of four members during the past year.

He also said how successful the cheese and wine evening at the Rose and Crown, Feckenham, had proved, adding more than £800 to branch funds.

The arboretum visit jointly arranged with the Burma Star Association in May had also been much enjoyed. The year also saw the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

He said how delighted he was to be back in Inkberrow for the branch meetings, adding it felt like coming home.

He closed by thanking everyone who had worked to keep the branch in such good shape over the year, not least those members who faithfully attended the monthly meetings.

Mr J Whitfield, honorary secretary and membership secretary, reported membership was down to 41 and spoke of the need to recruit new members. Two of the coffee mornings had already been held this year and shown an increase in funds raised.

The accounts were presented by treasurer Mr P Perkins and adopted. He was delighted to report funds were in a healthy state, due almost entirely to the success of the cheese and wine evening and to two generous donations.

Mr Perkins, as Poppy Appeal organiser for the branch, confirmed 56 boxes had been sent out, an increase on last year's figures.

Miss Reynolds advised members Inkberrow resident Mrs Edith Hunt would be 100 in December and it was agreed to send congratulations from the branch.
