JOHN Barton says his Worcester City side will be going all out to win their FA Umbro Trophy fifth round tie at Telford United at the first attempt.

City will be bidding to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in 18 years in tomorrow's tie at the Bucks Head (3pm).

And although City would be delighted to earn a replay at St George's Lane on Monday, Barton said: "It may be our best opportunity to do it at the first time of asking."

That suggests that Worcester will be going to Telford in an attacking frame of mind.

But City will be very much the underdogs against their Nationwide Conference hosts, and Barton admitted: "We are not kidding ourselves that it is going to be anything other than a tough assignment.

"We are pleased to have got this far but we aren't looking to go up there just to have a good day out.

"We have to have all our players turn up and perform well. If we do that, who knows? We are looking for a repeat of the type of performance we gave at Hayes in the second round.

"We need to start the game better than we have done in recent games. We can't afford to be in second or third gear for the first 45 minutes as we were against Merthyr otherwise the game will be out of our reach."

Barton says City will relish being the underdogs again, just as they were when they won 2-0 at another Conference side, Hayes, in round two.

"There is no pressure and expectation hanging round the dressing room, as there has been for most of the season, and that can only help us.

"If at the end of 90 minutes we have done all we can and we have nothing left in the tank, then the result will look after itself."

Midfielder Paul Carty and defenders Martin Weir, Carl Heeley and Kevin Willetts all came through training last night and should be fit for the big game. Winger Keith Knight is the only real doubt and he is likely to face a late fitness test on a knee injury.

City expect to be backed by around 800 travelling supporters tomorrow and Barton believes they can play a huge role in helping them to success.

"It has been a topsy-turvy season for the fans, and to have the opportunity of getting to the last eight of the Trophy appeared to be beyond their wildest dreams at one stage.

"If they can play as big a part as they have done in the Trophy run so far, then they are going to give us a better chance."

Fans are advised to turn up early because of building work at the Bucks Head, which has reduced Telford's capacity to 2,500.

If there is a positive result tomorrow, City face a crucial Dr Martens League Premier Division game at home to fellow strugglers Cambridge City on Monday.
