WINSTON Stanley has been handed a chance to resurrect his season after being named in the Worcester Rugby Club squad bound for Manchester.

The Canadian winger, who has not started a game since December 8, will be on the bench for Saturday's National One clash.

It is a timely boost for the former Leicester Tigers player who comes into the squad because of centre Gary Trueman's shoulder injury.

"It's good for Winston," said head coach John Brain. "He's happy to be involved and I'm pleased to be able to include him."

Brain makes three changes to the starting line-up from the side which won at Coventry last week.

Neil Lyman takes over from Alejandro Moreno at tighthead prop because of the Italian's Six Nations duty while Dave Sims comes in for the banned Dan Zaltman at lock.

Chris Hall replaces Joe Ross at hooker with Brain stressing the New Zealander had done nothing wrong.

"We think Chris deserves a game. He hasn't played for a while now and he's been looking good in training. We are certainly not unhappy with Joe, we were pleased with his performance on Saturday."

Brain said that the stories emanating out of Manchester would not distract his focus of the job in hand.

Twelve Manchester players are away on pre-booked holidays arranged earlier in the year when this weekend was originally deemed a free one.

The re-arrangement has severely weakened Manchester's chances of causing an upset but Brain said: "It doesn't concern us. We have to concentrate on our own performance.

"The pitch will be a challenge from what I can gather. Their match with Exeter was one of the few games in the country to be called off last weekend because of a waterlogged pitch. Manchester have quite a respectable home record so we will not be taking them lightly."

Former England star Ben Clarke has been ruled out until next month at the earliest after a specialist report diagnosed vertebra damage affecting his shoulder and neck.

"Ben is likely to be out at least until the Otley game at Sixways," said Brain. "The specialist's advice is that the injury has to be managed conservatively."
