TALENTED Droitwich Spa swimmer Kim Briggs made a splash at the Senior National Disabled Championships by winning four medals.

Kim, 14, overcame an injury disrupted year to come away from Sheffield's Ponds Forge pool with her biggest haul of medals ever from the competition.

The Droitwich Spa High School pupil also smashed four of her previous personal best times at the championships.

Kim, who has cerebral palsy, won a silver medal in the 50 metres freestyle and bronzes in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 4x25m medley relay.

The gifted swimmer also set new personal best times in the 100m freestyle, 100m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Mother Sue Briggs was delighted with her daughter, who suffered an injury hit year.

A stress fracture had prevented Kim from taking part in the Great Britain squad's trials for the summer's Athens Paralympic Games earlier in 2004.

She said: "Kim has had a very difficult year and we were worried that it might affect her performances.

"To come back from injury and disappointments with her biggest crop of medals in a senior competition was absolutely amazing."
