ANDY Keast was delighted to see his coaching bear fruit as Worcester Rugby Club ran in 10 tries against Manchester. Despite a chasm in class, the Sixways assistant coach was pleased with Worcester's play in patches.

"We played exactly how we are trying to in the first 20 minutes," he said. "The key is trying to sustain it and that is a problem at the moment. That's because it's new and intense. It's very hard work to try and sustain that level of performance but that's what we are trying to do. We've scored five tries from new moves we've been working on - so that is encouraging.

"We asked the players to double the score in the second half and they've done that, so we're happy. It was a good team performance."

Worcester led 29-5 at half time and Keast was determined that the players would continue in the same vein in the second period.

"We want to get into the position where we force ourselves into a very high-tempo game. If you get it right, you open people up and we showed that today. You can clearly see that we are improving and the confidence is coming back. I was pleased that we were professional in the second half and kept the tries coming."

With this mauling coming on the back of the heroics at Coventry last week, Keast now believes that the confidence is returning at Worcester.

"The confidence is coming and we want to get better and better. The players are enjoying the way we are playing and after a couple of good wins, the handling is improving all the time. With the pitches beginning to dry out, we will get better and better as the season goes on."

The former Natal man was also pleased to see winger Winston Stanley get a 20-minute run-out and cause Manchester a number of problems.

"He was unfortunate not to score. He got away twice and got two ankle taps, otherwise he wouldn't have been caught. All he needs is a try or two to give him a bit of confidence. We've got a good squad system at the moment and Winston has shown he wants to be involved."
