A HEREFORDSHIRE-educated man has been elected chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) Graduates and Students National Committee (GSNC).
Phil Hardy-Bishop (right) who went to John Kyrle High School, Ross-on-Wye, was delighted with his new position.
"I have a strong committee and we plan to improve the reputation of the construction industry," said the 26-year-old, who now lives in Devon.
"There are some exciting times ahead for ICE and I welcome being able to contribute in this focal role.
"My introduction to Civil Engineering was at school with Job Experience, where I spent a week at the Hereford and Worcester Road Material Testing Laboratory in Hereford.
"I then went on to do a week with a firm of consulting engineers in Gloucester studying problems with building foundations.
"This gave me a good foundation in my career and the rest, as they say, is history."
