MALVERN Rotary Club played host to a visitor from Malvern, South Africa, 50 years ago.
Rev H P King, rector of the town near Johannesburg, told the Rotarians about the problems facing his country, which arose from the country's multi-racial make-up.
"The doctrine of Apartheid - separation - has made the lot of the native population very pathetic, unfair and miserable."
The clergyman said that he held communion in the native tongues every fortnight and that many white people attended to demonstrate their disapproval of the colour bar.
