FORMER Wolves and Walsall midfielder Tom Bennett will provide valuable know-how as Kidderminster Harriers bid for an FA Cup shock tonight.

Harriers may be bottom of Coca-Cola Two but Bennett's addition should give them a boost at League One outfit Port Vale in the first round (7.45pm).

Caretaker boss Shaun Cunnington did try to make two other signings but it is believed the players did not fancy the challenge of a relegation fight.

However, Bennett, 34, turned down offers from Macclesfield Town and Bury to sign for Harriers until the end of the season from Boston United. Cunnington said: "I am looking for Tom to sit in the midfield and dictate the game.

"He thought long and hard about it -- we are bottom of the league -- but he thinks it is a great challenge to come here and get us out of this situation.

"He brings a vast wealth of experience and is a leader which I think we need on the pitch."

Harriers today used their last short-term loan by bringing in goalkeeper Ryan Clarke, 22, from Bristol Rovers for a month.
